Resource Management

It should be obvious by now that managing resources is a vital part of the game. What might not be so obvious is how to manage those resources so that you can build what you need, when you need it. After all, buildings and equipment don’t just appear out of thin air, they must be made from something!

The resources that must be managed in Imperial Warfare are: gold, wood, stone, metal, and food. The novice tasks should have led you through the process of acquiring resources by building mills, mines, quarries, or farms. Gold is collected via taxes in your Town Center. While they are  enough for you to get started, upgrading these buildings is essential to keep up the pace of expanding your empire.

Unless you go hunting around your city grounds a lot, it can be a hassle to keep switching to the city map to upgrade your resource units. Rather than clicking back and forth all the time, there is a shortcut to upgrade those resource units from within the city walls. To do this, click on your Town Center and click “City Info.” Then click on the “Resource Unit” tab on the upper right side and you’ll see a list of all your resource units, their levels, as well as column on the right side filled entirely with “Query” buttons. Click on one of these “Query” buttons and that particular resource unit’s information will pop up, including the “Upgrade” button! Viola! Build orders issued from within the city like a true Emperor  (or King)!

Now the question is, which resource is the most important? Short answer: all of them! Seriously though, it might surprise you but food is actually the least important one. Wait, let me rephrase that, food is the one you need to worry about least. Why do I say that? Because your farms are very efficient at churning out munchies for your city population and troops, often keeping your warehouse filled to the brim with wheat, oats, and whatever else they ate in those days. So when it comes time to upgrade those outer-city units, food is really the least of your concerns.

On the opposite spectrum, I suspect wood might be the most important element to keep production up for. Think about it, probably every room in your house has something made of wood, including much of the house itself. Ancient people’s used wood many things like construction, fuel, art, tools, and also recreation.

Keep these things in mind when building your town and you’ll be sure to stay ahead of the curve!

How to Get the Most Out of the New Update part 2 – Dante’s Circle

As you may have noticed, the biggest add-on in our latest update is Dante’s Circle. Some of you may be asking, who is Dante? What does his circle have to do with Imperial Warfare? Well, there’s a slight history lesson there and it will impact your game play in a pretty significant way!

The Dante in question is Dante Alighieri, an Italian poet who wrote Divine Comedy, introducing his vision of the afterlife to the rest of the world. One of his most important contributions is the concept of the nine circles of Hell. While Dante’s circles were a big deal during his time and place and history, it is now a portal for challenge and adventure in ours!

Dante’s Circle is a battleground composed of 5 Floors with 10 Levels each: Paradiso, Terra, Purgatorio, Limbo, and Inferno. Dante’s Circle may be entered only once per day; but using an Infernal Rune allows one additional daily entry. Players must normally re-enter the Circle from the beginning should they choose to leave for any reason, but they may use an Infernal Passkey to skip levels that have already been conquered. A rich panoply of new Dante’s Inferno Tasks will give even the most experienced IW player new reasons to get those swords swinging in a Hero-training frenzy, and defeating the challenges of each hellish ring within the circle will bestow windfalls of Items, Fame, and Experience upon anyone brave and valiant enough to accomplish the tasks.

Lightning Guards

The Lightning Guards were previously an underground society formed by bitter men and women whose closest companions were casualties of endless War. With nothing left to live for, they devoted their existence to slaughtering anyone who crosses their paths, hoping that one day they will have fairly repaid their revenge upon the world. The Lightning Guards earned their name because of their notoriously frantic attacks; they strike fast and hard. For most, the only hope of defeating them lies in discovering a way to temporarily match their speed. The risk of going head-to-head with these monsters is, however, worth it, because they drop some of the strongest equipment. Their numbers increase with the advancing Ages, but they remain clever and difficult to track.

Depending on a City’s Age, between one and five Lightning Guards will appear on the Region Map. In the event that the player does not defeat the Guards for that particular Age, new ones will appear upon Age Advancement. All Lightning Guards will yield Purple Equipment upon defeat. Lightning Guards are notoriously difficult—almost impossible—to defeat unless a Lightning Rod is used to weaken them first.

May 27, 2011 1 comment

Annnd we’re back! After working hard on the latest update, some of you may have noticed a lot of changes in the game interface. Don’t be alarmed, a lot of stuff is just where it was before but with a few improvement tweaks.

One of the biggest changes is the addition of the Slot Machine. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have the real slot machine facade to it yet but it works in a similar fashion! Simply hit the “I” button with a cross behind it in the upper right corner.

The Imperial Slot Machine should pop up and you’ll have your choice of which slot machine you want to play. You get one free play everyday, to use it, just hit one of the  “Free Play” buttons below each slot machine. Presto! A free item will instantly pop out for you to use! Prize range from resource packs to powerful hero items and more!

You never know what you’re going to get next! So if you want to play more in a single day, you’ll have to put in an Imperial Coin per extra play. If you’re feeling extra lucky, you can even put in 5 or 10 Imperial Coins at once and win some big time fabulous prizes!

This is just the beginning in a long series of posts to help you boost your standing in Imperial Warfare! Stay tuned for more!
